General Information About Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the science of life that deals with the medicines extracted from natural products such as plants and green vegetation. Ayurveda has eventually evolved into a wholesome guide for spiritual, mental and physical growth of humanity. Health Ayurveda is the most ancient way for treating several diseases. This treatment is also called science of life. In other words Ayurveda can be defined as a system, which uses the inherent principles of nature, to help maintain health in a person by keeping the individual’s body, mind and spirit in perfect equilibrium with nature.

The concept of Ayurveda is based on three basic elements in the human body. It says that the three elements “Vata”, “Pitta”, “Kapha” should be in the state of equilibrium to keep us healthy. When any one of them or two get imbalanced, we have ailments associated with the element. For example, “Vata” is responsible for all types of movements in the body. When the element gets imbalanced, it causes gas, indigestion, the stiffness of joints, gout, or nervous system disorders. In the other words, Ayurveda believes that human body is made up of three Doshas (faults or mistakes): Vata, Pitta and Kapha & these three Doshas control the different functions of the body. Vatta controls movement in muscles, pulsations of heart, feelings and emotions like excitement, laughing, crying pain etc. Pitta governs digestion, nutrition, metabolism, body temperature and its color. Kapha is present in nose, plasma, cytoplasm, sinuses and other liquid secretion. Human emotions like attachment, love, anger are also controlled by Kapha. It gives biological strength to the body. Since everybody has different body structure, hence Ayurvedic treatment is different for different body.
